My lack of blog entrees stands out when I write about Memory Rock 2010 -because I have few entries that aren't about Memory Rock!  Well, I'll fix that, but on to the good stuff.

This year, Memory Rock is at Joe's Sports Bar, 940 West Weed Street, Chicago.  It's on Thursday, September 2 from 7-10 p.m. and for $30 (online or $40 at the door) you get draught beer, wine and soda as well as great music from Dr. Bombay.  Our silent auction includes White Sox Scout seats, Cubs, Bulls and Blackhawks tix and an autographed Kenney Chesney guitar.  Our raffle has a ton of tickets, beer coolers...

Memory Rock has grown from only 75 attendees the first year to 350 last year (our third) and we're hoping to get over 600 this year.  Dr. Bombay, led by Lee Golub, is just fantastic and they bring a big crowd on their own.  Additionally, having Sarah Kustok emcee has elevated attendance and attention.  She's gorgeous, talented and flat out cool!  We've received great p.r. from Biznow, Crains, the Sun-Times and Trib and I'm on Rick Kogan's show on WGN Sunday morning, August 29 at 6:30 a.m.  Hope you all can make the event:  http://www.memoryrockchicago.com  This has grown into a great fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois chapter and the money raised helps fund research.  I've noted throughout the years that, unfortunately, practically every family is touched by Alzheimer's.  The funds we raise help research a cure and maybe one day we can eradicate it.

Onward and upward.  The Cubs have been awful this year but I've still enjoyed following them.  I've met owner Tom Ricketts twice -what a great guy with a great vision.  The Ricketts family will be awesome owners and although it may take a couple of years, I believe in their vision.  Additionally, I'm having dinner with Ryan Dempster soon.  My buddy BB and I purchased a dinner with him at the Comcast SportsNet Sports Awards dinner benefiting the March of Dimes.  Thus, me, BB and 8 of our buddies are having dinner with Ryan.  I also bought an autographed Dempster jersey (as well as Fergie Jenkins and a slew of others) and will probably ship it to my home in Seattle.

That's it for now.  Hope to see you all at Memory Rock! SM

Memory Rock, 2009, benefitting the Alzheimer's Association-Greater Illinois Chapter is being held on Thursday, August 27 at Joes Sports Bar, 940 West Weed Street from 7-10.  Dr. Bombay is playing, once again, and the $30 entry fee gets you beer, wine and soda.  This is a great event.

Many shout-outs are deserved, but none more so than for those who have helped us for many years, including sponsor Bill Barry.  Michigan Plaza and our buddy Mark Buth are Gold Sponsors, too, as is yours truly.  And, of course, the Doctor himself, Lee Golub, is  a sponsor and supplies great music!  Our emcee this year is Comcast SportsNet's Sarah Kustok -a fantastic sportscaster and anchor.  You need to check out Sarah on Comcast SportsNet.  She's extremely talented and professional and I make it a point to watch her in the mornings when I'm slugging away on the elliptical trainer.

It's a fantastic night and I hope you all can make it.  Please visit the website for more info:  http://www.memoryrockchicago.com  Finally, Ed Warm and Tom DeSanto of Joes have been gracious hosts for the event since its inception three years ago.  Joe's is a great place to watch games and is the city's top concert venue.  I hit Joe's a lot and hope to see you there.

If you're up early on Sunday, August 23, listen to me on Rick Kogan's Sunday Morning Paper on WGN at 7:30 a.m.  I'll be talking about Memory Rock.

Thanks! SM
